How to become a Somaiya student

Eligibility Criteria

Admissions to the DNB Program are conducted by the competent authority viz. Medical Counselling Committee (MCC), Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Government of India. No admissions are done at college level.

The eligibility criteria are as prescribed by the competent authority. Students should refer to the information brochure published by the competent authority for detailed eligibility criteria for the current academic year.

The broad eligibility criteria for admission are as follows

  • The candidate must be an Indian National.
  • The Age of the candidate must be as prescribed by the competent Authority
  • The candidate must be medically fit and must submit a certificate of medical fitness at the time of Document Verification as per proforma.
  • The candidate must have passed the MBBS examination from a medical institution recognized by National Medical Commision (NMC); [erstwhile Medical Council of India (MCI)].
  • The candidate must have completed the compulsory one year rotatory internship before the date as prescribed by the competent authority.
  • The candidate must have obtained minimum marks as prescribed by the competent authority at the NEET-PG/ PD-CET
  • The candidate must be registered with MCC cell, through online application on website of MCC Cell.

Admission Process

The admission procedure (known as CAP or Centralized Admission Procedure) is as prescribed by the competent authority. Students can refer to the information brochure published by the competent authority and to the “Admission Notices” tab for admission procedure for the current academic year.

The general steps of the admission procedure are as follows

  • Online registration with the Competent Authority, online submission of application form and online uploading of required documents
  • Publishing of Merit List by the competent authority on its website
  • Filling of preference form indicating preference-wise list of colleges by the candidate
  • Allocation of college by the competent authority based on the availability of seats, rank in the Merit List and preference of candidate
  • Reporting to the allocated college and completion of admission process by verification of documents and payment of fees (as applicable).
  • Multiple admission rounds (like CAP round 1, CAP round 2, CAP Mop-up round, CAP Stray Vacancy round) are held with repetition of above three or four steps for filling of vacancies of the preceding round.
