About

General surgery is a surgical specialty that focuses on alimentary canal and abdominal contents including the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, large intestine, liver, pancreas, gallbladder, appendix and bile ducts, and often the thyroid gland. They also deal with diseases involving the skin, breast, soft tissue, trauma, peripheral artery disease and hernias and perform endoscopic as such as gastroscopy and laparoscopic procedures.

We also include superspeciality branches such as Urology, Oncosurgery, Neurosurgery, Plastic surgery, Paediatric surgery, Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, Diabetic foot surgery and Podiatry.

Teaching Activity

The Department of General Surgery trains undergraduate as well as post graduate students. We conduct various theory as well as practical sessions for both. We are affiliated to MUHS nashik for the MBBS training programme and National Board of Education for Post Graduate Degree (D.N.B) in General Surgery.

For Undergraduate students : Teaching activities carried out include Lectures, Clinics, Seminars, Surgical Demonstrations, Skills Lab training.

For post graduate students : Teaching activities include Lectures, Clinics, Clinical Demonstrations, Operative exposure and surgical demonstrations, skills lab and Endotrainer sessions, Journal Club, Seminars.

Hospital Services

The Department of General Surgery provides OPD, IPD, Surgical well as Emergency care services.

OPD services are available from Monday to Saturday. Emergency services are available 24x7.

We have dedicated male and female surgical wards with 120 bed capacity. We also have a 5 bedded Surgical ICU.

We provide surgical services including general surgical cases involving hernias, gall bladder, appendix, abdominal surgery, breast, thyroid, skin and subcutaneous tissue, vascular surgery. Minimally invasive surgery and Laparoscopic surgery.

We also provide super specialised surgical services such as Oncosurgery, Cardiothoracic and vascular surgery, Diabetic foot surgery and Podiatry, Pediatric surgery, Plastic Surgery, Neurosurgery and Urosurgery.

We have state of the art modular and well equipped dedicated surgical operation theatres to perform all the above mentioned surgeries.

We are also equipped with latest C ARM machine, Laparoscopic sets and instruments, Microscope, Minimally invasive urological instruments.
