  • The primary teaching- learning method employed are lectures,hands on practical sessions, conducting vaginal deliveries
  • Assisting and performing operative procedures like cesarean section,hysterectomy,diagnostic as well as operative hysterolaparoscopy,family planning procedures under supervision and guidance of qualified professionals. Handling emergency obstetric and gynecological patients
  • Handling out patient department patients
  • Presenting seminars,case based learning,journal presentations,indoor patient rounds
  • Paper and poster presentations in state/national conferences
  • Research projects
  • Dissertations


  • Course content is delivered by expert and committed faculty which is in full strength as per NMC norms.
  • Adequate infrastructure Facilities – (lecture halls, specialized departmental laboratories, library and hostel) ensure student comfort and smooth delivery of course content.
  • A fully equipped skill lab to practice surgical skills
  • Adequate Clinical material at K J Somaiya charitable hospital with a good number (indoor/outdoor)of patients ensures adequate exposure and experience in laboratory work in various sections.

Program Outcome

An MS (Obstetrics and Gynecology) Post graduate can opt for the following career paths ahead

  • Can join a teaching institute and pursue a career in obstetrics and gynecology teaching.
  • Can join private hospitals or corporate hospitals as a consultant
  • Can start their own independent private hospital
  • Can opt for further super speciality training in obstetrics and gynecology
