Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria are as prescribed by the competent authority (MUHS). Students should refer to the information document published by the competent authority for detailed eligibility criteria for the current academic year.

The broad eligibility criteria for admission are as follows.

  • The Candidate shall have the Post Graduate Degree qualification in the concerned subject of health Sciences or as the allied subject(s) notified by the University, Central Councils (if any).
  • The Candidate having Post Graduate Diploma, registered in the concerned Schedule of the Act of the respective Central Council or a Diplomat in National Board (D.N.B.) qualification, shall also be considered eligible, only if, such Candidate has published minimum two research papers in National or International Indexed / scientific Journal(s) with ISSN number;
  • The Candidate having Postgraduate Degree qualification in the allied subject in Health sciences, as enumerated in Annexure-VI and the subjects as may be specified and updated by the University, incorporating it in the list contained in the said Annexure, from time to time. As per the approved list, if the Ph.D. Scholar possessing a Post Graduate degree from foreign University, he shall be required to submit the equivalence certificate of Indian Post Graduate degree, from the respective Central Council.
  • If a member of any authority of any University applying to be registered for Ph.D. degree, then he shall not participate or vote on any point or item of discussion related with Ph.D. degree before any authority or committee or sub-committee of the University.
  • In case, any Candidate, who is Ph.D. Guide or Research Supervisor of the University and intends to seek admission for Ph.D. degree, he shall not enroll any Ph.D. student under him till such time he completes his Ph.D. degree.

Admission Process

The admission procedure is as prescribed by the competent authority. Students can refer to the information document published by the competent authority for admission procedure for the current academic year.

The general steps of the admission procedure are as follows

  • Appearing and passing the entrance exam conducted by the competent authority.
  • Publishing of Merit List and admission schedule by the competent authority on its website.
  • Filling of preference form by the candidates.
  • Allocation of institute by the competent authority based on the availability of seats, rank in the merit list and preference of candidates.
  • Reporting to the allocated institute and completion of admission process by completing the necessary formalities including payment of fees.
  • Multiple rounds of admissions may be conducted by the competent authority to fill the vacancies of the preceding round.
