K.J. Somaiya Medical College and Research Centre, Mumbai was established in 1991 by our founder and
great visionary, Padmabhushan (late) Shri K.J. Somaiya. During this journey of past 33 years our great
Institution has throughout lived with the motto of science with spirituality. It has always been at the
forefront of medical education scenario of the country and will always continue to be so.
I am writing this message with the backing of my team of fully dedicated teachers and supporting
staff. We are situated in the heart of Mumbai and have a huge campus, all necessary infrastructure and
excellent sport facilities. We have ultra-modern hostel on campus for our undergraduate and post
graduate students with all modern amenities, safety features and dining facilities. A five hundred and
fifty bedded fully equipped hospital with facilities for all super specialty treatments like
angioplasty, coronary artery bypass grafting, neurosurgery, cancer surgery, plastic surgery, treatment
of various kidney ailments along with all broad specialties are available under one roof. We provide
‘excellent learning opportunities’ for both the undergraduate and post graduate students.
For the patients it is always, ‘care with compassion’ in our hospitals. Our highly
subsidized treatment facilities and availability of various government schemes like Mahatma Jyotiba Fule
Jeevandayi Aarogya Yojana, PMJAY amongst others, have been attracting patients from all classes of the
society.
It is our endeavour to create future generations of Medical Doctors who are a class apart. It is my
own ambition to produce doctors who are competent and globally competitive. Our unique methods of
teaching- learning and assessments induce our students to perform better. We organize various CMEs for
the students and faculties where stalwarts from different fields are invited to deliver lectures and
demonstrate surgeries. We have started workplace-based assessments, 360-degree feedback assessments,
health and safety initiatives, audit- service improvement, management- leadership, communication and
teamwork initiatives which set our students on a higher pedestal.
