Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy subject encompasses clinical dermatology, dermatopathology, dermatosurgery and cosmetology. It also has laser treatment for various skin conditions and hair transplant in hair loss. This subject takes care of all types of skin, nail and hair diseases.
We are conducting out patient department daily and also in the patient facility, where patients with complications like drug reactions, lepra reactions, bullous disorders, erythroderma are admitted. We also offer cosmetology and dermatosurgery services like Dermaroller, Narrow Band UVB Rx, Subscision, Suction blister, Microdermabrasion, Ear lobe repair, Keloid treatment, Nail removal, Cryosurgery, Cyst excision, Electrocautery, Electrofulgration, Radiofrequency, Corn removal, Mesotherapy, Split thickness skin grafting, punch grafting, Chemical peels: Glycolic acid, salicylic acid, TCA, RETISES CT peel, Patch testing for contact dermatitis, STI clinic in association with MDACS, Leprosy Clinic in association with Bombay Leprosy Project, Vitiligo Clinic, Dermatopathology Clinic.
The esteemed faculty of full-time professors, lecturers and honorary teachers ensure that a high degree of academic excellence is maintained in the department. This is reflected by the innumerous laurels received by the department in the form of awards at various state and national conferences (papers, posters, quiz) as well as numerous publications in national and international journals. We teach undergraduate MBBS students. Undergraduate teaching is mainly lectures and bedside clinics, seminars, Journal Clubs, case presentations, as well as Research projects as part of their dissertations. We have been presenting several papers in state level as well as national level conferences and regularly winning awards at these conferences
Department of dermatology contributes in diagnosing and treating all kinds of dermatoses that occur in any IPD patient of all types in other departments. It helps to diagnose any underlying systemic condition when manifested on skin. We also perform cosmetic and dermatosurgical procedures. This department reports leprosy, STD/STI, Cutaneous TB cases to hospital authorities and helps to reduce the load of such cases in regional territory.
